Due to the large scope of HIPAA it could mean many things to different people. For consumers, the intention is to allow individuals to gain access to their own health information so that they may make informed decisions when seeking health care. One of the responsibilities of the Rutherford Polk McDowell District Health Department under HIPAA was that we assemble a privacy policy that describes our methods for how we obtain and use your health information as well as what we do to protect that information.
