What is a privacy policy?

A privacy policy describes how medical information collected about you may be used and how that information may be disclosed. In addition, the policy lets you know how you may obtain the information.

What does it mean for patients?

HIPAA is intended to allow patients to have access to their own health information so that the individual may be informed when making decisions pertaining to their health care.
